CHC Community HealthCorps: A Ripple of Hope

CHC Community HealthCorps: A Ripple of Hope

So, I see on my calendar that there is the CHC AmeriCorps Graduation today at noon.  I’m sure that there will be plenty of speeches thanking all of you for the great work you’ve done this year, so I figured, as social media manager, I’d share my thanks electronically. Between my job of promoting great things happening at CHC and sitting up on the third floor of the old dental building, next to the office of two AmeriCorp members and…

Happy Women’s Health Week

Happy Women’s Health Week

I found a quote by the poet, Maya Angelou, that I thought suited the beginning of this post. “How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes” As we hit the halfway mark of celebrating National Women’s Health Week, I think it is important to keep in mind all of the “she-roes” that are involved within our lives. The reality of this sudden moment of praise had nothing to do with athletics, people were cheering for the first registered patient of the Mission of Mercy event as they entered the newly transformed dental clinic which was just your average basketball court the day before. Word had spread that the woman and her son had…

Celebrating National AmeriCorps Week!

Celebrating National AmeriCorps Week!

During the designated week of AmeriCorps service across the country, March 10-18, many different groups organized service projects that promoted the week’s theme, “AmeriCorps Works”. At the Community Health Center, Inc. there are fourteen driven individuals that make up our HealthCorps team who volunteered their time at a CT Special Olympics event, Middletown Minds in Motion, serving lunch at St. Vincent de Paul’s, and concluded the week in New Haven at a “Healthy Living for Kids” event, Recess Rocking the…
