A perfect day, A perfect walk
This past weekend CHC staff and members from the 2011 AmeriCorps group, came together to participate in the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Walk event. A group of CHC staff woke up bright and early to participate in the walk. They cheered each other on and shared the spirit and energy of the event as walkers and runners alike made their way to the finish line.
Meanwhile, AmeriCorps members were gearing up at the finish line to cheer on walkers completing the full marathon . We pulled together as the most enthusiastic Spirit Crew one might see at an event. We were stationed across from the event DJ in our CHC t-shirts that were designed by Nicole Jarjura, patient navigator for the Colorectal Early Detection Program. By the way, the shirts designed by Nicole won the event t-shirt contest, so CHC staff and AmeriCorps members received a lot of recognition for these beautifully designed shirts. Great job Nicole!
Myself, 5 other AmeriCorps members, and Miss Mia, the honorary Spirit Crew dog cheered on the walkers in colorful costume including crazy hats, boas, feathery wraps and a variety of noisemakers to encourage walkers to complete the last few steps of the walk.
The day ended up being perfect. The rain subsided, the sun came out with a nice breeze to follow and we were all able to come together to raise awareness of the importance of early detection, while supporting a wonderful foundation.
