Happy Holidays from CHC

It has been a busy time of the year as CHC has celebrated the holidays with our patients and staff across Connecticut.  You can see pictures of some of the events, with more to come in our Facebook Holiday Album

Margaret Flinter wrote an email to our Middletown staff about some of last weeks activities:

What a week for the CHC of Middletown to demonstrate it love and compassion for our community and our patients!  The Homeless Vigil on Thursday night, organized by  our incredible team from Ferry Street, led by Kasey Harding , was a powerful and moving testimony to our recognition and celebration of those whose life story includes/included being homeless.  It was beautifully planned, in collaboration with other partners, and deeply moving.

The next day, CHC of Middletown –redesigned as Santa’s wonderland–opened its doors and hearts to 285 children—accompanied by their parents /grandparents and others.  It was a triumph of unbelievable “logistics” planning and design by a huge group of elves,  who decorated, secured hundreds of wonderful gifts, organized a sequence that brought children quickly and smoothly right in to see CHC’s own google-glass wearing  Santa, have a photo taken, engaged in some art projects, receive a gift, enjoy a snack –and leave when ready.  So many parents reached out to CHC staff to say thank you—many saying “best party our family has ever been to—thank you for doing this”.

Thank you one and all to every staff person who contributed in any way—contributing a gift, planning, staffing, playing, cleaning up—and of course a big shout out to our AmeriCorps Members who just seem to be everywhere putting their energy and talent into service.

You truly embody the spirit of the holidays.

Thank you to staff at all our CHC locations who make the holidays bright for patients.
