National Health Center Week is officially August 5-11 this year, but for us at CHC and at many other health centers around the country, it is always Health Center Week. Here in Connecticut, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has signed an Official Statement proclaiming August 5-11 National Health Center Week in Connecticut.
We’re starting early with a health fair at our New Britain Site on Thursday, August 2, from 11 am to 2 pm. The health fair will include free screenings and medical information, DJ, fresh smoothies, yoga, Zuma, farmers market, raffle prizes, Recess Rocks and much more.
On Tuesday, August 7th there will be a community walk, along Zumba and healthy snacks at our site in Meriden from 11 am to 2 pm. We will also be recognizing Meriden’s Public Safety personnel, Meriden Fire Department and Meriden Police Department, for their excellent service to CHC and our patients. They have made many visits to CHC to assist when needed. We will be giving them recognition plaques at 1 PM.
In the middle of National Health Center Week is National Healthcare for the Homeless Day. Our “Wherever You Are” Health Care for the Homeless program presents a special viewing of “Give Me A Shot of Anything: House Calls to the Homeless.” This film will be followed by a discussion about homelessness in our state led by CHC providers and community leaders.
Then, on Friday, August 10th, we will have a health fair in Middletown from 11 am to 2 pm. It will have the same activities as the health fair scheduled for New Britain.
Ending off National Health Center Week, will be a health fair at our Danbury site on Saturday, August 11th, from 11 am to 2 pm. This health fair will have free screenings and medical information, raffle prizes, health snack, activities for kids and more.
Please join us in celebrating health centers around the state and the country.
