Helping Get the New Year Off to a Great Start

Well, here we are, two weeks into the New Year.  Middletown saw a great kick off to the new year with Middnight on Main and many of us have made resolutions about how we’ll make this year better than the last.

Unfortunately, too often we start the New Year with the best intentions, but end up failing to achieve our goals.  One thing that can help us achieve our goals is getting together with a group of people all working together towards the same goal.

CHC offers a wide selection of groups to help us work towards the changes we seek.  Our behavioral health team provides group sessions at sites across Connecticut addressing many issues.  There are also some special groups worth highlighting.

For people dealing with Domestic Violence, New Horizons Domestic Violence Services provides support groups for both adults and children.  New groups are starting next week.  People interested in finding out more information should call 860-344-9599.

Also starting next week is a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program.  These programs are particularly useful to help patients dealing with chronic health conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes.  Patients interested in these program should speak with their doctors for more information.

Even if you haven’t made resolutions for the New Year, every day presents new opportunities to find ways to live healthier lives.  Let’s all work together to help get this year off to a healthier start.
