Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness

Unfortunately Mother Nature did not cooperate with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which was scheduled for Sunday morning in Westport, CT. CHC’s Fairfield County staff was all set and ready to walk to make a difference in the lives of numerous women across the state but instead they could be found Sunday morning shoveling their walks or huddled around fireplaces, keeping warm. Westport received almost six inches of snow, an unheard of amount for October. However, not all was lost due to the storm because throughout the entire month of October, Norwalk, Danbury and Stamford CHC staff members raised awareness among patients by wearing pink shirts on every Monday and Friday, promoting early detection and teaching breast self-examinations. They also came together in a fundraising campaign to raise $2,260 for the walk. Overall, the Westport event collected $324,648.99, which goes towards helping women stay well or get well, finding a cure, and fighting back against cancer. We congratulate and thank everyone from Fairfield County who participated in this effort!!!
